The National
A new report from TCO Management Consulting entitled ‘Lack of Integration of the Emirati Workforce in Private Sector’ stated that 43,000 of the 2.2 million private sector jobs are occupied by citizens compared to 495,000 Emiratis work in the government sector.Professor of P.Sc. Abdulkhaleq Abdulla at UAEU argues that the private sector has cynical perspectives towards Emiratisation and that there is a basic implicit inclination against Emiratis in this sector. Whereas, ED of the ENDP, Essa Al Mulla says that there are competent Emiratis who haven’t got the chance they need. He admitted that though the nationals dislike the private sector but it is their job to change the mindset.
{Questions}
I would prefer to
work for the government sector rather than the private sectors for many reasons
that make the former profoundly surpass the latter.
2.Explain the advantages and
disadvantages of each.
Though
each sector has its own advantages and disadvantages, yet the government sector
favors the private sector in my opinion. In the government sector the pay and
the financial rewards are higher, the holidays are more, the working hours are
less and flexibility is available. In addition to that it has less stress, more
free environment and more training opportunities. Moreover it offers job
security and pension which the private sector lacks. On the other hand, the
working hours in some establishments in the private sector are more flexible,
promotion and progression are more obtainable; besides, some projects would
pour fortunes in your lap if you know how to do it!
3. Why do
you think there is a negative stereotype about Emirati workers?
I think
the existence of the negative stereotype about Emirati workers due to some
passive attitudes and deeds of some of the irresponsible Emirati workers who
gave that impression and you can find such type of people in every society.
4.Do you believe Emiratisation is
important? Why/Why not?
By all means I do
believe Emiratisation is important because firstly, the native citizens should
repay the blessings of their country by serving it in all possible ways.
Second, they are more entitled to enjoy the wealth and prosperity of their own
country. Finally, what scratches your skin better than your own nail!
